August 31, 2007
Miami, Florida

(As the lightning-like pyro shoots off into a big explosion, Joey Styles & Tazz are seen on the camera)

Joey Styles: A new GM, new line-up, a new #1 contender, dropped title name & fresh off of jetlag, Joey Styles & Tazz here live in beautiful Miami, Florida fresh off the WCW International Assault Tour

Tazz: And what a tour was it ending with the Rock The Vote free-per-view featuring an intense match between Raven & Dean for the WCW Championship

(Clips are shown of the Tables, Ladders, & Chairs match last Sunday)

Styles: As I was saying earlier, Cornette has dropped the “Undisputed” name from the title but it doesn’t mean Dean is less of a champion especially after a grueling title defense which ended with an assault which included a RKO by Randy Orton

Tazz: Last night, Orton was officially named the newest #1 contender for the WCW Championship and will face the Iceman Dean James at WCW Road Wild as we go to the old WCW’s stomping ground in Sturgess, Georgia

Styles: But before we get to the September 23rd free-per-view, we have a Thunder tonight…but we don’t even have a card, Tazz? Who’s fighting tonight?

(“Impact Theme” plays as the Owner of WCW & So Cal Val comes out to the ramp and towards the ring then “This is Extreme” plays and Paul Heyman walks out onto the stage. He is holding a microphone in his hands. He makes his way down to the ring and climbs in. He walks to the center of the ring as his music dies.)

Tazz: I guess we’re about to find out

(Jim Cornette comes down to the ring, looks as red as his suit, is obviously pissed from several events that occurred last night as So Cal is holding what seems to be a pill bottle as Heyman is looking to see if he’s ok)

Jim Cornette: I would like to congratulate all the winners from last Sunday’s Rock the Vote, you’ve survived the torture of the fans. Down to business, I have addressed it along with Paul Heyman that a few issues have arose in WCW

HEYMAN: Ladies and Gentleman, Welcome to Friday Night Thunder!!! I am the NEW general manager, Paul Heyman! And I’m going to start things off with a bang here tonight. As you all know there is a certain amount of controversy and confusion over the status of the number one contender ships for the Tag Team and X-Division Titles. Well, that all gets cleared up tonight. So there are five men that I need in this ring right now. CM Punk, Kurt Angle, Goldberg, and all three members of Japan’s Most Wanted. So get out here!

(“This Fire Burns” plays and CM Punk walks out onto the stage holding his X-Division Title. The fans are booing him loudly but Punk seems unaffected by this. He gets in the ring and awaits the others.)

(“American Hero/ECW Remix” hits as Kurt Angle and Goldberg come out onto the stage with their Tag Titles, they get a mixed reaction from the crowd and they don’t seem to be somewhat distracted. They get in the ring and await JMW.)

(“Japanese Swan Song” hits and Japan’s Most Wanted makes their way out from the curtain. The crowd cheers loudly, but the three seem completely focused on the three men in the ring. They slide into the ring and go to the opposite side of the ring from the other men.)

HEYMAN: Okay lets see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6! Good everyone’s here. Japan’s Most Wanted feel like there we’re screwed last Sunday, Goldberg never wished to be teamed with Kurt Angle, he also wants a Intercontinental title shot as well as Matt Hardy, and Orton & Dean wants a special stipulation for their match. Now for the reason I called you all out here. Tonight we are going to determine whether or not Justin Liger and Ultimo Dragon will get a rematch for the tag titles, and whether or not Tiger Mask will get a rematch for the X-Division titles.

ANGLE: And just how the hell are we going to determine that?

HEYMAN: Calm down Angle, I’m getting there. Now tonight we are going to have a match. Goldberg, due to your #1 contenders match against Matt Hardy, you will not be involved.

Jim Cornette: (Taking his pills) Agreed, Goldberg since your request was granted so the winner faces Edge at Road Wild plus the fans like Goldberg and hate Angle like I do so I will process Goldberg’s request to relinquish his title

Heyman: And as I said to Goldberg & Matt, Edge if you are your buddies interrupt this match you will regret the day you heard I was hired as GM

Cornette: Speaking of the new era, it’s obvious that there is a need to bring this ordeal with Vince Russo and his hair bear bunch so why don’t those rag tag group of hooligans bring there asses to the ramp so they can be properly addressed

HEYMAN: Before you do that, Cornette… tonight it is going to be a 2 on 3 Handicap Match. It will be WCW Tag Team Champion Kurt Angle teaming with X-Division Champion CM Punk to take on all three members of Japan’s Most Wanted. If The Champions win, then Japan’s Most Wanted will not get their rematches. But if Japan’s Most Wanted wins, then they will get their rematches at Road Wild.

PUNK: And how is that fucking fair! 2 on 3? That’s Bullshit!

HEYMAN: If you don’t like it Punk, I can just grant Japan’s Most Wanted their rematches right now! Do you want that?

PUNK: Uh, umm, well….no.

HEYMAN: Then Get the hell out of my ring!

(As everyone leaves, suddenly “Burn in My Light” plays as Orton comes out with Russo, Samoa Joe & Edge behind him as they make their way toward the ring)

Cornette: I didn’t ask for you, Orton, I’d get to you in a minute…

Orton: No, Jim, you will get to me now… I want my title shot before Road Wild! I deserve to be champion… It’s my destiny… make the match, Heyman! Do it! Do it! I know you can…do it…

Cornette: Destiny can kiss my ass all I care (crowd laughs)

Heyman: I second that statement (crowd laughs again)

Cornette: Now if you haven’t noticed Russo you’ve been downgraded to nothing since I’ve sold the rights of Velocity to a new fed, Masters Wrestling Conference. Which means you’re out of a job position here in WCW is up in the air.

Russo: (As they all walk towards the ring and stop right outside the ropes) I control the biggest faction in WCW history, Cornette. I oversee the future WCW Champion, Randy Orton, the WCW Intercontinental Champion Edge, the hardcore icon Raven & original Samoan bulldozer Samoa Joe… I can careless what the hell you do with me.

Cornette: Really? We’ll how about this… you are Heyman’s assistant GM here on Thunder!

Russo: I don’t kiss up to no second rate executive

Cornette: You do now, that’s what happens when you mess with the legends that built this place. Which I would like to add, Hollywood Hogan is doing better but as officially opted out of his contract and has retired which I will leave the door open for him to return.

Raven: If he does he’ll be left in a pile of his own filth like wrinkled piece of trash that he is. Nothing more than a over hyped waste of professional wrestling, not to mention you have the name of one of the fantasy like drug infested places on earth called Hollywood.

Orton: Another legend killed thanks to the new era…

Heyman: Cocky are we? Then you be pleased to hear I’ve accepted the match tonight with you & Finlay since Dean isn’t medically cleared. And to make it worse for you fools, since Finlay is being nice about it, if he wins he not only helps Dean get a choice of match he also will face Edge for his title at Road Wild!

Tazz: Ouch that makes it a Triple Threat, its like choose your ass whoopin’: Finlay? Goldberg? Matt Hardy? It sucks when all three don’t like you

Edge: (Taking the mic from Orton) This isn’t fair!

Heyman: Life isn’t fair, Edge

Cornette: Especially when Heyman, & me, are your bosses… now clear my ramp… we have a show to do.

Styles: Talk about blockbusters we have Matt Hardy vs. Goldberg, CM Punk & Kurt Angle vs. Japan’s Most Wanted & in our main event, it’s Finlay vs. Randy Orton! It’s a night of action, right after this

(Commercial airs… for the replay of Rock the Vote on FPV now!… Styles & Tazz are shown)

(“Live for the moment” plays as Matt Hardy makes is way to the ring with the crowd screaming in excitement to see him

Finkel: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your first match here on WCW Thunder introducing first from Cameron, North Carolina, the angelic Diablo…..Matt Hardy

Styles: What do you think of Matt’s chances tonight?

Tazz: I made my bet with Joey Numbers, I put everything on Goldberg.

(“Who’s next?” plays as the pyro explodes around the still undefeated superstar)

Finkel: And from Atlanta, Georgia, the still undefeated former WCW World Tag Team Champion… Goldberg!!

Styles: How much did you put down on Goldberg?

Tazz: Come on Joey, I can’t tell you a man’s bet! It’ll ruin my good luck

Styles: Can Goldberg continue his undefeated streak and go after Edge at Road Wild? Let’s find out and there’s the bell

#1 CONTENDERS MATCH FOR IC TITLE MATCH AT ROAD WILD
Matt Hardy vs. Goldberg

(The bell rings and Goldberg charges towards Matt Hardy and lands a vicious clothesline. He stands up and begins stomping hard on Matt Hardy’s Chest. Goldberg bounces off the ropes as Matt Hardy stands up. Goldberg attempts a big boot but Matt dodges it and lands a reverse DDT. Matt bounces off the ropes and delivers a leg drop to Goldberg. Matt goes for the pin 1…2…Goldberg kicks out at two. Hardy tries to lock in a Headlock but Goldberg easily powers out of it. Goldberg lands several shots to Hardy’s torso. He irish whips Hardy into the ropes and delivers a power slam.)

TAZZ: Whoa!! I think he might have broke Hardy in half there. This has gotta be the end

STYLES: I wouldn’t count out Hardy so soon Tazz, he’s said it himself He Will Not Die.

TAZZ: Yeah, well that may be the case but lately he Will Not Win either.

Golderg has a bow and arrow hold on Matt Hardy. Hardy is struggling to not submit to the hold. Hardy struggles to his feet, and backs Goldberg into the corner. Goldberg releases the hold, and Hardy stumbles away from him. Goldberg charges Hardy for a clothesline but Hardy catches him.

STYLES: SIDE EFFECT!!!! Hardy hits the Side Effect on Goldberg!!!!

TAZZ: This could be the turning point of the match here.

STYLES: Hardy going for the pin 1…2…Thr- NO!!! That was so close to three Hardy could taste it.

TAZZ: Really Styles, He could tastes it? Just tell me, what does three taste like?

STYLES: You know what I meant Tazz, anyways back to the action. Hardy climbing the turnbuckle…

(Goldberg stands up in the middle of the ring, Hardy attempts to deliver a jumping Elbow to Goldberg but accidentally nails the ref. Hardy looks on in disbelief of what he just did. This momentary pause allows Goldberg to regain his bearings and he clotheslines Matt Hardy out of the ring. Goldberg drags Hardy to his feet, and throws him head first into the ring post. Goldberg drags Hardy towards the ring steps but Hardy reverses and sends Goldberg into the steps. Goldberg stumbles to his feet and the two begin a vicious fist fight up the ramp.)

STYLES: And the ref is up he’s beginning a count out. 1…2…3…4

(The two have reached the top of the ramp, Hardy kicks Goldberg in the stomach and sets up for a twist of fate.)

STYLES: Hardy setting up for the Twist of Fate here and the ref’s at 6.

(Goldberg pushes Hardy away and then delivers a Spear sending Hardy and himself through part of the set. The two lie in a pile of rubble as the ref continues his count.)

STYLES: OH MY GOD!!!!!! These two have destroyed each other, and now the ref is at 8…9…….10!!!! The ref has counted both men out this match ends in a draw!!!

DECISION – DOUBLE COUNTOUT
TIME- 7:12

(The ref looks confused and is discussing the outcome of the match with two other officials as the crowd boos get louder. They are unsure of who to declare the number one contender. Suddenly, “This is Extreme” hits and Paul Heyman walks out onto the stage with a microphone. )

HEYMAN: Ladies and Gentleman these men have taken each other to the absolute limit and neither man could get the better of the other. Therefore I have no choice but to declare this match a draw, therefore neither man wins, but neither man loses either. So my official decision is that the Number One Contender for Edge’s Intercontinental Title is Goldberg!!!! And Matt Hardy!!!! So at Road Wild it will be a Triple Threat Match. And since Edge offered the winner of this match the opportunity to chose the match type so Hardy, Goldberg when you wake up and hear this, you have one week to decide a match type between the two of you and have it one my desk!

“This is Extreme” rehits as Heyman leaves the stage and heads backstage.

Styles: So what does this mean with Joey Numbers?

Tazz: What do you think Styles? Damn and I needed that money for lunch this week…

(More local commercial airs then a promo with the Samoa Joe training backstage…until)

Samoa Joe: (Push ups) 35… 36… 37…

JTG: Yo, yo ,yo it’s the Samoan Submission Machine… Samoa Joe

Shad: So, Joe, what’s up dude?

Joe: Nothing… go away

JTG: Come on we hear your thinking about going after those tag team titles

Shad: And we just came by to say, we may see you there in da future…

JTG: But first we want to sell you some of this (Cryme Tyme shows Joe…)

Joe: What the fuck? Diet drinks?

JTG: That’s right, premium Jenny Craig diet drinks! Only…hmmm

Shad: Well they sell at $5 a can but since we don’t wanna get suspended, we’ll start at the amazing price of $2.50

JTG: (Whispers) It has that secret stuff you use…

Joe: Get…the hell… out of here… before I kill the two of you… we’re your momma is going to feel it

Shad: Hey, my momma is a nice lady

Joe: Get out!

(As Cryme Tyme leaves, the camera focuses on Joe who’s pissed… camera goes back to Tazz & Styles)

Tazz: I guess Samoa Joe is getting to know my boys from Brooklyn

Styles: And I think weight will be the last thing on there mind if they cross Samoa Joe again… did they try to sell him something with steroids in it

Tazz: I have no idea what you are talking about…

(“Japanese Swan Song” plays as the members of the Japanese mafia come to the ring)

Finkel: This is the 2 out of 3 falls match, introducing first from Osaka, Japan at a combined weight of 570 pounds… Tiger Mask, Ultimo Dragon & Jushin Liger… Japan’s Most Wanted!

Styles: Japan’s Most Wanted is looking for a little revenge. There we’re about to be the first faction to win gold collectively all in one night

Tazz: Since DX & the NOW, there hasn’t been a dominant team in wrestling that has so much potential like these men right here

Styles: Let’s hope they can win tonight

Tazz: They have a extra man involved… they should

(“American Hero –ECW Remix” plays and Kurt Angle comes through the ramp with red, white & blue pyro sets off around him carrying both belts)

Finkel: From Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, he is the current WCW World Tag Team Champion… the Olympic Hero, Kurt Angle!

Tazz: That’s gotta say something about yourself if one partner gets hurt and another doesn’t even wanna be your partner

Styles: Goldberg gave up his opportunity to wear the belts with Angle and he looked great with him at Rock the Vote but as he said earlier in the week, he wants singles gold

(Kurt taunts the men from Japan as he fakes he’s going in the ring until…)

Finkel: (As “This Fire Burns” begins) and from Chicago, Illinois, he is the current WCW X Division Champion, CM Punk

Tazz: Since his attitude turn at Rock the Vote, Punk looks more determined than ever… hey may be he has a chance to be World Champion now

Styles: Whatever his attitude is about the crowd sure doesn’t like it

Tazz: I wouldn’t either, honestly. Hey Styles, how would you feel if someone like that constantly stuck their middle fingers at you?

Styles: I would hate the guy just like them

3-ON-2 HANDICAP MATCH
WCW World Tag Team Champion KURT ANGLE & WCW X Division Champion CM PUNK VS. JAPAN’S MOST WANTED

(Angle and Tiger Mask start the match off each trying to get the advantage. Angle’s technical abilities aren’t helping him because of Tiger Mask’s quickness. Angle finally catches Tiger Mask and the two lock up in a collar-elbow tie up. Angle goes for a suplex but Tiger Mask slides under his legs and delivers a dropkick to Angle’s back, sending him sternum first into the corner. Tiger Mask charge towards Angle and delivers a lucha DDT followed by a standing moonsault. Tiger Mask runs to his corner and tags un Ultimo Dragon.)

STYLES: And Japan’s Most Wanted definitely with the upper hand here.

TAZZ: Yeah these guys are pretty quick but I think that they’re gonna have a hard time keeping up that pace against Angle and Punk.

(Ultimo Dragon pulls Angle to his feet and Irish Whips him into the corner. CM Punk slaps Angle’s back and gets the blind tag now that Tiger Mask is out of the ring. Punk climbs to the top rope and delivers a missile dropkick to Ultimo Dragon. He then locks in a hammer lock in the center of the ring. He has it locked in pretty tight when Tiger Mask Spring Boards off of the rope and delivers a leg drop to Punk. Punk releases the hold as Tiger Mask gets in his face. The ref steps between the two and tells Tiger Mask to get back to his corner.)

TAZZ: Whoa, definitely some bad blood between those two and if Tiger Mask becomes the legal man, Punk better watch out.

(Punk Irish Whips Ultimo Dragon into the corner and delivers a running clothesline into a bulldog. Punk goes to the corner and tags in Angle. Angle walks behind Ultimo Dragon and grabs his leg.)

STYLES: ANKLE LOCK!!!! Kurt Angle has the Anckle Lock locked in. Here comes Tiger Mask and Liger. Double dropkick to Angle’s face, and he releases the hold and a double beat down here on Angle. Here comes Punk but Tiger Mask breaks off and delivers a hurricanrana to Punk sending him out of the ring. And now back to Angle. But what’s this?

(Goldberg is limping down to the ring holding his injured ribs; suddenly he is attacked by a half bandaged Matt Hardy. The two begin brawling on the ramp, as Angle manages to get out of the beat down by Japan’s most wanted. He sends Liger over the top rope and delivers an Angle Slam to Tiger Mask. He then goes outside the ring to help Goldberg.)

STYLES: and Angle has cleared house and is now going to give his tag team partner a hand, but he’s still the legal man, so is Ultimo Dragon.

TAZZ: Yeah he better watch out here. And the ref starts counting.
(The ref counts and has reached a count of 8, Angle notices and books it back towards the ring. CM Punk is screaming like crazy for Angle to get back in the ring. The ref reaches 10 at the same time that Angle slides under the ropes.)

STYLES: I don’t know if Angle made it back to the ring or not this is gonna be really close.

TAZZ: Yeah this one’s up to the ref, is the match over Ref?

(The referee conferences with the ring announcer. Angle walks to the corner of the ring closest to the ring announcer.)

FINKEL: Ladies and Gentleman, the ref has ruled that Kurt Angle did in fact make it back into the ring before the count of ten. Therefore this match will continue.

STYLES: And look at the look of relief on Angle’s face, but look at Ultimo Dragon, he’s back up and there’s a roll up on Angle…1…2…3!!!!! He got him!! Japan’s Most Wanted wins!!!!!

WINNER – JAPAN’S MOST WANTED
TIME – 6:03

Tazz: I can’t believe it, they actually won

Styles: And that means Tiger Mask will now face WCW X Division Champion CM Punk and Ultimo Dragon & Jushin Liger will face Angle and I guess a partner to be named

Tazz: I would get a partner soon… I hate to be rolled up like that again

(Commercial airs for WCW Road Wild live in Sturgess, Georgia September 23rd, 2007)

(“Symphony of Destruction” plays as Dean James walks out onto the stage.)

FINKEL: Ladies and Gentleman please welcome the WCW Undisputed Champion, “The Iceman” DEAN JAMES!!!

Dean James walks over by the timekeepers table and takes a seat in a chair at ringside.

Styles: I would expect I’d see the champion out here

Tazz: I would too… I’d love to know who’s facing me at the next big event

FINKEL: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is your Friday Night Thunder Featured Contest.

FINKEL: Introducing first, from St. Louis, MI, weighing in at 245lbs. “The Legend Killer” Randy Orton!

(“Burn in My Light” plays as Randy Orton walks out through his signature gold rain pyro. He pauses on the stage and does his Legend Killer taunt. He casually makes his way down the ramp and rolls into the ring. He climbs the far right turnbuckle and again does his Legend Killer taunt. He sneers at Dean James and then jumps down into the ring)

Tazz: Orton has all the chances in the world to become champion but getting through Finlay first is the task tonight

Styles: Orton needs to not look past Finlay, as Dean said him & Finlay does not see eye-to-eye but when it comes to the #1 Contender and that’s a combination I’d look out for

(“Irish Horns” plays as Finlay walks out onto the stage with his shillelagh in hand.)

FINKEL: And his opponent, From Belfast, Northern Ireland, weighing in at 235lbs., The Fighting Irishman, FINLAY!!!!

Tazz: My thing is, Styles, is what does Finlay get out of this?

Styles: Unless Dean promised him a title shot if he beats Orton…

Tazz: Ah, there’s the underlining deal made right there…

(Finlay rolls into the ring and gets right in Orton’s face. The ref separates the two and calls for the bell)

FRIDAY NIGHT THUNDER MAIN EVENT
FINLAY VS. RANDY ORTON

(The match has been proceeding at a rather slow pace, with neither man gaining a significant advantage over the other.)

Randy Orton has a headlock on Finlay and is pumping his arm applying pressure to Finlay’s head. Finlay is struggling to break free; he begins ramming his elbow into Orton’s abdomen. Orton eventually is forced to release the hold and doubles over after having the wind knocked out of him. Finlay bounces off the ropes and delivers a kick to Orton’s face.

TAZZ: Oh what a shot there, Orton just got his face punted.

STYLES: He’ll definitely be feeling that one in the morning, and now Finlay going for the cover 1……2……no Orton kicks out.

(Showing signs of frustration, Finlay begins stomping away on Orton the ref gets in between Finlay and Orton and tells Finlay to back off. Orton crawls back to his feet.)

STYLES: Shoulder-Elbow tie-up here both men looking to get the advantage and Finlay into a hammer lock.

TAZZ: Wow he’s really pumping up the pressure here, the ref asking Orton if he wants to submit and….Oh Orton with the blind low blow, the ref didn’t catch it.

STYLES: What a cheap shot by Orton, and now the pin 1…2…3? No wow that kickout was at about 2 and 7/8.

(Orton drags Finlay up to a sitting position and locks in a rear chin lock. He delivers several forearms across Finlay’s chest. He releases the hold and pulls Finlay to his feet. Orton Irish Whips Finlay into the ropes and delivers a standing drop kick to Finlay. Orton bounces off the ropes and delivers a fist drop. Orton climbs on top of Finlay and begins landing repeated shots to Finlay’s face. The ref warns Orton and Orton reluctantly climbs off. Orton drags Finlay to his feet and Irish Whips him into the corner. Orton charges towards the corner and attempts to deliver a running shoulder but Finlay side steps it and Orton runs shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Finlay slides out of the ring and slams Orton’s head into the turnbuckle. Orton falls out of the ring as Finlay rolls back in. The ref begins to count Orton out. Orton is sturring slowly and is on his knees by the count of six. He struggles to his feet and sees the ref at a count of eight and rushes into the ring. Finlay goes for a clothesline but Orton ducks under it and delivers his signature back breaker)

STYLES: And Orton suddenly is in control of this match, but wait whos this?

TAZZ: Looks to me like Vince Russo has come down for a ring side view of the action. And the ref has noticed him.

STYLES: yeah and while the ref is busy with Russo, Orton is grabbing a steel chair.

(Orton rolls back in the ring with the steel chair. He holds it over his head and prepares to smack Finlay with it when he stands up, but suddenly Dean James is on the apron and grabs the steel chair.)

STYLES: The Iceman stopping Orton from using that foreign object, and now Orton and James are screaming at each other.

TAZZ: and look, Finlay has the shillelagh he’s running for Orton and, Oh Orton ducked at the last second and Finlay smacked the Iceman right between the eyes with that shillelagh.

STYLES: That was completely unintentional; Finlay was aiming for Orton and….RKO!!!! Orton nails Finlay with an RKO. Here’s the pin 1……2……3! Orton with a cheap victory!

TAZZ: Cheap? Orton won it fair and square!

WINNER - RANDY ORTON
TIME – 10:42

Finkel: Your winner Randy Orton!

Tazz: So what’s the match going to be?

Styles: Who knows (As Dean himself gets up and gives Randy Orton a mic) Wow that was nice of the champion

Randy Orton: Thanks champ… or rather former champion because as I said I wasn’t done at Rock the Vote because you see Dean I will RKO you… I will knock you out… I will knock you out to the point where you won’t even be able to get up before the count of 10… that’s right the ‘Legend Killer’ Randy Orton faces the Legend of the Iceman Dean James… Last… Man… Standing!!

Tazz; Woah, didn’t see that coming…

Styles: (As Dean holds up the title) Can Dean James avoid being knocked out by Randy Orton at Road Wild? Will the champion continue his storybook dream as World champion? We’ll find out at Road Wild but until then we’ll see you next week
