WCW Thunder
Osaka, Japan
August 10, 2007

(“Rise Up” plays as Tazz & Joey Styles are shown at the announcer’s booth)

Joey Styles: As we all make our way to the voting booths for the most interactive free-per-view in WCW history, we must make stops along the way. Welcome to WCW Thunder live from Land of the Rising Sun…Osaka, Japan for the continuation of the WCW International tour. I’m Joey Styles with my partner Tazz

Tazz: Feels like the old ECW Arena. Cramp space, die hard fans… I love it. A beautiful piece of land this Japan, its I just have to get use to being here…which I’m glad I don’t have to for too long because that’s the last time I’m walking into the Women’s bathroom because I can’t understand the door

Styles: You sure you didn’t go in there on purpose?

Tazz: What’s wrong with you, Styles? I’m happily married. Just don’t tell the wife.

Styles: Tonight we will see more action from our WCW superstars featuring two main events. We will have Edge, the new NWO member, facing Dean James for the Intercontinental Championship.

Tazz: That should be a great match and there’s a chance our Undisputed Champion may end up a double champion.

Styles: And we will have the Battle of the Former World Champions as Finlay, Sting & Raven will face one another to better their chances in winning the fans vote for Rock the Vote.

Tazz: That’s going to be a rocket buster

Styles: But first we will have the debut of our newest acquisitions, Japan’s Most Wanted, which I think we will have one of the members now

(“Japanese Swan Song” plays as the crowd cheers and one of the members of the faction comes out)

Howard Finkel: (With translator) From Osaka, Japan (Finkel stops to let the crowd cheer) he is representing Japan’s Most Wanted…Jushin Liger!

Styles: And here is Japan’s pride & joy, Jushin Liger. A former old WCW product, Liger, with other products La Parka, Rey Mysterio & Most Wanted members Ultimo Dragon & Tiger Mask we’re premiere masked American stars

Tazz: They’ve put a lot of masked wrestlers on the map and for the life of me I cannot understand why WWE hasn’t picked up on it

Styles: Didn’t have too, they just went ahead and bought WCW

Tazz: Right

(“American Hero – ECW Remix” plays and one-half of the WCW World Tag Team Champions comes
down to the ring with a wave of boos around him)

Finkel: From Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, he is one-half of the WCW World Tag Team Champions the
American Hero Kurt Angle!

Styles: Here is Kurt Angle, he’s called out Jushin for this match in response to a attack by Liger at a house show in France earlier this week before his partner, Batista’s match against Ultimo Dragon

Tazz: Japan’s Most Wanted are called that for a reason, Styles. There dangerous & fearful individuals and have basically picked the bone of one of the championships they want…the world tag team titles

Styles: Cornette has spoken to their leader, Ultimo Dragon who has announced he wants a shot at those belts at Rock the Vote so he has given Liger a chance to win that title shot here tonight

Falls Count Anywhere Grunge Match
Kurt Angle vs. Jushin Liger

(Angle has tried his best to keep Liger grounded by applying several submission holds. Liger has tries his best to counter every move but he is unsuccessful due to Angle being stronger than him but Liger is faster…)

Styles: Angle trying to go for another German Suplex but Liger quickly to the ropes and Angle bounces off of him. Liger is sitting on the middle rope and he’s taunting Angle to after him…Angle runs after him and Liger uses the ropes as leverage and uses his feet to send Angle to the outside

Tazz: Wow, it looked just like the American flag flying in the wind

Styles: Now Liger off the ropes…runs and high jumps on the top rope with great balance! And lands a Front Somersault to Angle…

Tazz: And these fans are going nuts here in Osaka and they’re chanting Liger’s name

Styles: Liger lands a Standing Moonsault on Angle into a pin… 2 count…

Tazz: Close call there as he brings Angle back in the ring…

Styles: Liger trying to end it here, goes to the top…goes for a Moonsault but Angle puts his knees up and goes right into the Ankle Lock but he rolls out of it and sends Angle into the turnbuckle

Tazz: Liger did his homework, it would’ve been over there

Styles: Liger goes to the top again, possibly another Moonsault… but Angle gets up and Liger lands on his feet, runs off the ropes and lands a Dropkick to Angle. Liger goes for his own German Suplex but Angle lands on his feet and Angle grabs and catches Liger

Tazz: There’s German number one, German number two…

Styles: Angle tries for the release but Liger lands on his feet… runs for a Headscissors Takedown but there spinning in a circle… and Angle counters with a Sitdown Faceplant…and he rolls over into a Ankle Lock…

Tazz: Angle basically kept speed with Liger…that was amazing and this may be the end to an amazing match

Styles: Liger is trying to crawl to the ropes but Angle has that lock in tight

Tazz: How is he going to get out of it, Styles

Styles: Wait, he’s still pulling… and he’s gotten to the rope… and he’s pushed Angle out the ring!

Tazz: Unique idea by Jushin there using the ropes and a lauchpad, haha

Syles: And he’s limping on one leg but he’s running off the ropes… and lauches himself into Angle and they both end up over the barracade…

Tazz: Woah! Car crash!

Styles: But look Jushin lands on top of Angle… the pin… and its over!

Winner – Jushin Liger
Time – 8:22

Finkel: Here is your winner, Jushin Liger!

Tazz: Wow, what a finish

(Showing the replay)

Styles: Jushin, making his best imitation of a rocket just launched himself into Angle and took him off his feet which sent both men over and Liger somehow landed on top of Angle and got the win

(Backstage, the owner is talking to his Undisputed Champion as Dean is trying his best to get a special announcement about Orton & Cena’s match out)

Jim Cornette: No, Dean I can’t tell you what I am going to do

Dean James: Why the hell not? Come on, how long have we been close to we’re I knew what superstar was fucking what diva before everyone else did

Cornette: That’s nothing, Dean. It was obvious CM Punk was sleeping with Maria.

Maria: Hey! How did you know that?

James: Oh, shit I forgot you we’re here

(Maria leaves as the crowd laughs)

Cornette: But seriously…No. The only hint I’ll give you is it involves a title match

James: Cool. I can roll with that.

(Hollywood Hogan walks in)

Hollywood Hogan: Cornette, you seen Edge?

James: Why? Y’all missed your manicure appointment?

Hogan: Kid, I’m the last icon you wanna mess with. I’m not Sting; I’ll kick your ass, brother

Cornette: Guys, Hogan he’s in his locker room

Hogan: Thanks (Leaves looking at Dean in his face with an evil look)

Cornette: What have I gotten myself into?

James: You need a fine Australian woman. I’ll hook you up when we get to Rock the Vote. I guarantee she’ll suck your…(as Maria walks in)…feet, gotta go… later.

Maria: Did I interrupt something?

(Commercial goes with the crowd laughing… comes back with Tazz & Styles talking)

Styles: Tonight’s show is brought to you by WCW Rock the Vote presented by The Straight Edge Week In Review featuring CM Punk, get your straight-edge opinion from the source WCW X Division CM Punk!

Tazz: I tuned in when it premiered… it’s no Shootin’ With Tazz but its pretty good

(“Irish Horns” plays as the brash Irishman comes out with a very pissed look)

Finkel: This is our first main event of the evening, and it features all the men eligible to face Dean James at Rock the Vote introducing first from Belfast, Ireland he is Finlay!

Styles: Jim Cornette is notorious for putting together free-per-view like matches on his shows and tonight is no different. Finlay came up with the idea to have Dean’s opponent choices fight one another in a match and that’s what exactly what we’re going to see

Tazz: Finlay, a former WCW World Champion, has come along way from winning the World title two months ago but now he’s back in contention so a win tonight would definitely get the fans voting

(“Scream” plays and Raven comes down to the ring)

Finkel: From the Bowery, he is the former WCW World Champion… Raven!

Styles: Raven has been off his rocker since he lost the MWC World title to the Iceman and I think he’s becoming even more cynical since

Tazz: You can’t blame the guy for being a little off. Raven has held a world title for most of his MWC/WCW career so this is one of the first times he’s been without his precious title

( )

Finkel: And finally, the last former World champion, from Venice Beach, California, the Icon Sting!

Styles: Tazz, what other time have you seen Sting so determined?

Tazz: When he took the title from Finlay to become WCW World Champion…this time is no different. As I said a win tonight would definitely get the fans voting

Main Event #1 – Battle of the Former World Champions
Sting vs. Raven vs. Finlay

(Raven & Finlay has been tag teaming on Sting for the majority of the match. Both men have been wearing Sting down as much as possible surprisingly working together.)

Styles: Sting looking beat up here, thrown off the ropes by Raven and Finlay lands a hard Shoulder Block. Finlay picks him, off the ropes again and into a Flapjack…Raven off the ropes & Raven lands a Leg Drop to the back of Sting's head

Tazz: There working like a well oiled machine but how long will it last?

Styles: And you see Finlay goes for the cover… and Raven pushes him off and go for the cover…and Finlay pushes him off and now these two are getting into it

Tazz: ‘Bout time, here we go

Styles: And Raven & Finlay are trading blows…Raven throws Finlay to the ropes, Finlay reverses… Finlay swings but Raven slides under and a Dropkick to Finlay and he goes to the outside

Tazz: But look at Sting right behind him…he’s not looking too happy

Styles: And Sting begins jabs, several jabs to the face… Raven off the ropes and Sting lands a Clothesline…and another one… and another one… and another Standing Dropkick and Raven is down

Tazz: And Sting is cooking!

Styles: And Finlay is back in the ring and knocks down Sting with a Chop Block to the legs…Raven is up, jab combinations & the Discus Punch and knocks him down

Tazz: Stiff right hand puts Finlay to the mat

Styles: The pin… and a two count… and Raven goes right for Sting and I think he’s looking for a Figure Four

Tazz: Raven showing his veteran mindset knows Sting’s legs are a little weak after Finlay crashed into them and it would be better to work on them more than attempt a pin

Styles: And it’s locked in… Sting has to try to get to the ropes or Raven will win this match here tonight

Tazz: Sting may be on his last here cause there’s no way he can pull the heavier Raven with him to the ropes

Styles: And the ref is checking Sting and Raven is pulling the ropes behind his back and it looks like it may be the end for Sting… as the ref didn’t catch Raven in time but look at Finlay… he’s outside with that shillelagh in hand… and he lands a shot to Raven’s face!

Tazz: That’s gonna leave a bruise

Styles: Finlay back in the ring… picks up the weaker Sting but Sting is trying to fight him off… consecutive rights and Finlay is rocking… Sting off the ropes, flies with a Crossbody but Finlay catches him…Finlay switches Sting position

Tazz: Goodnight, nurse… a modified Celtic Cross

Styles: And here is the pin…and there is

Winner – Finlay
Time – 8:55

Finkel: Your winner of the match, Finlay!

Tazz: He’s taken out Raven, he’s taken out Sting… will Dean be next?

Styles: I dunno Tazz all I see is a bloody Raven who’s nose is possibly broken and a immobile Sting who probably has a concussion after that Celtic Cross. We’ll as we try to move on next, we have our final match of the night with features the new NWO member Edge & the WCW World Champion Iceman Dean James. When we come back

(Commercial airs for Rock the Vote WCW X Division Match featuring Tiger Mask, Billy Kidman & the champion CM Punk)
(As it returns the loud speaker plays with the voice saying “New, new, new world order” then saying “we’re back” into “Never Gonna Stop” and Edge & the Undertaker comes out)

Finkel: Ladies & gentlemen, this is the second main event & the last match of the night. This is for the WCW Intercontinental Championship introducing first representing the New World Order, being accompanied to the ring by the Undertaker, he is the WCW Intercontinental Champion, The Rated R Superstar… Edge!

Styles: What can you say about our Intercontinental Champion, Tazz?

Tazz: The only thing I can say about Edge is this… he’s the ultimate opportunist and he took upon every opportunity to receive the Intercontinental Championship and he took the ultimate risk in siding with Hollywood Hogan & Undertaker as the New World Order

Styles: So what the hell is going to happen at Rock The Vote when these two suppose to face one another?

Tazz: Who knows…

(“Symphony of Destruction” plays and Dean James comes out…puts his belt in the air and the Edge-like pyro begins. Dean puts his title on his shoulder and uses the other hand to put up the peace sign, as the crowd is hysterical for the Undisputed Champion)

Finkel: And his opponent, from Australia, he is your WCW Undisputed Champion and the only Australian-born World champion in wrestling history…the Iceman Dean James!

Tazz: Wow, I haven’t seen so much pyro in my life. I swear my ears just popped

Styles: It’s the benefits of being World champion something Dean has worked on since the day he stepped into MWC and then became exclusive to WCW

Tazz: Will he set another first in becoming the first superstar to be a double champion?

Styles: We’re about to find out…

Main Event #2 - WCW Intercontinental Championship Match
Edge w/ Undertaker vs. Iceman Dean James

(Dean & Edge have really been laying into one another since the starting ring bell. Edge, mostly pissed for Dean questioning his title reign, and Dean, pissed that Edge claims he’s a crappy champion. Undertaker stands outside idly waiting for his chance to get his hands on Dean and interrupt this match)

Styles: Dean off the ropes… and leapfrogs over Edge… comes back and Edge lands a Low Dropkick to the knees and Dean lands face first into the mat… Edge bounces off and lands a Falling Elbow right to the back of the head

Tazz: Edge is basically trying to kill the champion here…

Styles: Picks up Dean… and tosses him out in the direction of the Deadman

Tazz: This is not looking good for the champion ‘cause Taker has not been the best of people since he’s joined NWO

Styles: And Dean trying to quickly move away from Taker as he continues to back peddle from him… and Edge lands a Clothesline to the back of his head and then jumps back in the ring

Tazz: Leaving an immobile champion with Undertaker… this is more like a handicap match

Styles: Undertaker lifts him up and drops his neck across the barricade on the outside

Tazz: That can rupture a view components to you speaker box believe me

Styles: Edge comes back out the ring and stomps on Dean some more and this is becoming unfair

Tazz: What do you want Styles? Someone to come help him? He’s the champion, when you’re the champion you have no friends, no partners, no backup… it’s just you

Styles: And Edge tosses Dean legs first into the steps and jumps back in the ring again

Tazz: There goes the hamstring

Styles: There trying to kill the champion here… and Taker has him again and is picking him up… he’s about to drop him back across that barricade…but Dean’s is fighting out his grasp… and he does it and lands a Dropkick to Undertaker’s back and sending him across the barricade into the lap of the fans

Tazz: Now that’s what I call getting the fans involved

Styles: Dean climbs to the top and I don’t think Edge realizes what’s happen… and he turns around and a Missile Dropkick to the face of Edge… the pin… and a 2 count

Tazz: The champion has fire in his eyes and I think he’s had enough

Styles: Dean is back up and so is Edge… Edge goes for a Clothesline but Dean catches his arms, spins him around into a DDT…another pin…and again a 2 count

Tazz: He’s like a ball of fire, Styles

Styles: And Edge doesn’t have any water… Dean with a Clothesline, and another one… off the ropes and Dean lands a Spinning Wheel Kick… and Edge is back down… but Dean is picking him back up

Tazz: Damn, Enziguri and you heard that through out the whole arena

Styles: And a Super kick and Edge is falling back

Tazz: And Dean his another Enziguri and finally Edge is falling forward, again what a shot

Styles: You’ve heard of the Standing Ovation, that was the Encore… the pin… and another 2 count…and I think he realizes what he has to do to end this match

Tazz: It maybe Boxoffice Smash time…

Styles: (as Dean puts one piece sign up) And it’s time… Edge is out of it but look towards the ramp…it’s Finlay!

Tazz: But Dean saw him and now they’re trading blows

Winner – None (DQ)
Time – 10:12

Styles: Dean tosses Finlay off the ropes but Edge is holding Dean and Finlay lands a Back Elbow to Dean’s face… into that Seated Senton and that had to crush Dean’s ribs…and now both Finlay & Edge are stomping on Dean and here comes Undertaker in the ring… this is unfair, your telling me Tazz no one is going to come out to help the champion

(The lights go out for a long period of time as it comes back, Sting appears in the ring and is taking swings with his black bat… he misses head shots but once he goes low)

Styles: And a bat to the Undertaker’s leg by Sting… here comes Edge but Sting lands a rib shot to Edge and a bat across the bat

Tazz: It’s about to get a lot more uneven cause here comes the former WCW / MWC Champion Raven with a singapore cane

Styles: Sting doesn’t see him… and a shot across the back by Raven and Sting is down to his knees…and a devastating shot across the face by Raven and Sting is out as Edge & Taker leave

Tazz: Finlay & Raven are not stopping… Raven is going to town on Dean with that cane

Styles: This is getting out of control… someone needs to stop this… why is Edge coming back with Undertaker?

Tazz: Who knows but I guess he’s not done… and Finlay & Raven aren’t even paying attention

Styles: And now Undertaker is attacking Raven? And Edge just speared Finlay… and a Chokeslam to Raven… and the NWO have cleared the ring… And Edge is going to get a chair, not a con-chair-to

Tazz: No, not this again

Styles: No… he’s ordering the Undertaker to pick up Dean… he has Dean in the air… and a Chokeslam to Dean into the chair and the champion is out again

Tazz: The New World Order are here to prove they are here to stay and no one should stand in their way…

Styles: I repeat what the hell is going to happen between Hogan & Edge at Rock the Vote? Will we see another repeat of Hogan & Nash with Edge lying down or even Hogan lying down for the title? Was this what Hollywood Hogan wanted to speak with Edge about? What will Jim Cornette think of the events tonight? All these questions, I hope, will be answered next week on Velocity… for Tazz, I’m Joey Styles as the New World Order are back on top

Cover Story: A New Order Upon Us

After their savage attack on Dean James, Finlay, Raven & Sting, the NWO including Hollywood Hogan we’re seen fleeing the scene after Thunder. “The New World Order is back brother and this time we’ve become immortal, untouchable… and rated R” says Hogan and Edge’s gleeful chime in. What can be said about the newest most dominant team in wrestling. Nothing more than that…dominant. “I have never seen eye-to-eye with Hogan or Edge, but it is time for some order to come to WCW” a cold answer from the Undertaker”. If the main event aftermath on Thunder is any implication of the NWO power, then we’re in for a huge changing of the guard in WCW.

Cover Story: Cornette’s Livid Announcement – Next Week’s Velocity Main Event

Due to the recent actions of last night’s Thunder, Jim Cornette has announced a Texas Death Main Event Tag match for next week’s Velocity. “Not only the fans can see what they can vote for in the WCW World Tag Team match for Rock the Vote, they can get a great free-per-view like match”. Announced teams include the WCW Champion Dean James to team with Sting to face NWO members Edge & Undertaker and the Irishman Finlay & Raven. “This should cool everyone off and hopefully give the fans a good match before Rock the Vote. Velocity will also include the debut of Matt Hardy as he faces Goldberg, the only undefeated superstar in WCW. All this happens next week in Velocity.
